The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life

For decades, we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. Mark Manson, however, doesn't sugar-coat or equivocate: "F**k positivity," he says in his wildly popular internet blog. "Let's be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it."

Backed by both academic research and well-timed poop jokes, Manson makes the argument that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. It's time to recalibrate what it means to be happy: there are only so many things we can give a f**k about, so we need to figure out which ones really matter.

An antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mindset that has infected modern society, and filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humour, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is a refreshing slap in the face for a generation spoiled by being rewarded with gold medals just for showing up.

Biography

Mark Manson is the New York Times bestselling author of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck (more than ten million copies sold worldwide) and a star blogger. Manson sold more than 250,000 copies of his self-published book, Models: Attract Women Through Honesty. Before long, his off-the-cuff voice was resonating with a much broader audience via his brilliantly counterintuitive essays on happiness. With titles like “The Most Important Question of Your Life,” “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck,” and “No, You Can’t Have It All,” his work was reposted by Elizabeth Gilbert, Chris Hemsworth, Will Smith, and Chelsea Handler. His site—markmanson.net—is read by two million people each month. Manson lives in New York City.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life

Probably the best read I've ever had in such a long time. The author manage to get the message delivered to readers (as I felt like I have been exposed for a bit). Recommended if you are currently in a state where you aren't having mental clarity as this book will try to get you see the bigger picture of what's happening around you and be realistic.

DEFINITELY A BOOK TO HAVE IN YOUR BOOK SHELF

This book helps you to be more practical and be realistic in your life. The writer engages the readers with him till the end. It is useful for youngsters as it tells how to live a balanced life. Mark Manson teaches us to let most of the things go as they are not that worthy but we constantly pay attention to them (sometimes unconsciously) and focus on what truly matters. It changes the whole perspective of your life and especially as teenager when you think of a life full of luxuries without any problem, the writer tells that happiness doesn’t lies in such life. It comes from confronting problems and finding the way to solve them. If you are willing to endure the pain associated with certain happiness, surely you can find it and that is the thing which we must know as everyone here want something according to their own priorities but most of the people don’t want to go through the process to get that. This book helps you to encounter what you try to avoid whether it is any failure or any situation. Writer gave his own examples and experiences to illustrates how life’s struggles give it more meaning which is much better approach than constantly trying to be happy. But overall this was a good book
