When Tan Sri Shamsuddin Abdul Kadir started Sapura Holdings in 1975, he hoped that hard work would be enough to build a business that would provide for his family. The company grew to be something else entirely: an international corporate giant that made Shamsuddin one of Malaysia's most successful Malay entrepreneurs.
The circumstances of Shamsuddin's early life gave no hint of what was to come. Here he reveals, in his own words, how he lived through poverty and wartime hardship, his years in the Civil Service and how he navigated his way to the top of the business hierarchy.
A Driver's Son documents more than just a legacy of business; it is also a story of family, humility, loss, gratitude and one man's richness of spirit.
The writer tried as much as he could to relate his childhood past and experience to his upbringing personality. This book does play with your emotion when you read through the burden that he carried before and after WW2.
A very inspiring story about Tan Sri Samsuddin. Thumbs up to editor & author who wrote the story line in a very simple & memorable way.

This is one autobiography which I enjoyed reading. Written by Tan Sri Samsuddin of Sapura Holdings.
Looking at him now, you will never guess how difficult his journey in getting good education. He started his early education with good marks and progress without any problem until the Japanese Occupation Years when his schooling had been terminated due to the war.
