Mr Lee Kuan Yew passed away on 23 March 2015. This special collection brings together the first two volumes of his memoirs: The Singapore Story and From Third World to First. These memoirs are the only works that he penned in his own hand.
In The Singapore Story, Lee recounts in intimate detail the battles against colonialists, communists and communalists that led to Singapore's independence.
From Third World to First details the extraordinary efforts it took for an island city-state in Southeast Asia to survive, with just a “razor's edge” to manoeuvre in, as Albert Winsemius, Singapore's economic advisor in the 1960s, put it.
