"Tun Abdul Razak's great achievements are mentioned in my book, but they, as does the Tun himself, still await their definitive historian. FELDA and the NEP are his gems. Tun Abdul Razak understood that by stimulating economic growth, our country could begin to redress the centuries-old imbalances among our different communities and give all of them the chance to benefit from growth, within a political union which has been characterised by alliance, compromise and relative harmony. The Constitution (Amendment) Act, 1971 is his greatest contribution in Malaysia's legislative history.
"To my mind, Tun Abdul Razak undoubtedly has a place among the great figures in the annals of national development, and in many respects he towers over others who are giants in the Hall of Fame. He was a hero to the farming community. However, it was the ‘unheroic' and the ‘modest' in him that endeared him so particularly to all of us: his kind looks, his occasional but always generous acknowledgment of what we did, his unselfconsciousness, his beaming smile of thanks when he was aware that we had worked hard to realise his dreams, his modesty, his personal frugality and above all his moderation in all things.”
