The double-barrelled authorship of this book is based on two journals fused together, a kind of auto/biography comprising the words of both Theresa Chin and her husband Dave Anthony, as well as recollections by others.
Theresa Lim Chin Chin, in her historical journal, told her side of the story of her detention under the ISA. Dave Anthony kept a journal from the day Chin was arrested to the day she was released. Both their lives were much more than that. Dave has put it all together in one book of their combined struggle throughout.
Chin’s journal and personal reflections and letters served as an autobiography while Dave wrote her biography. The other notable contribution was made by Chin’s sister Elizabeth in her reflections on their childhood and family. Different voices from her sons and friends are also heard in the book.
