Penang would probably not have been chosen by UNESCO as a world heritage site if it only had a few hundred buildings testifying to its thriving multicultural existence for more than 200 years. Despite the gentrification that followed on from being certified by UNESCO, many of those buildings still house many traditional trades which still serve Penang's citizens as they served past generations. This book documents the history and purpose of most of the important trades within the city centre with a map noting their whereabouts so that new customers will help them to continue to thrive. 80 pages.
