I believe language is among the most precious gifts bestowed by Allah. It is not merely a means of communication, but a bridge through which meanings quietly travel from one soul to another.

Through language, we are drawn closer to knowing Allah. Through language, we begin to sense the depths beneath His words. And through language, our thoughts are slowly shaped, refined, and awakened.

عَرَبِيًا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

“...in Arabic, so that you may understand.” (12:2)

With every word I chose in this work, I tried to approach it as though it were a doorway into an ocean of meaning; vast, layered, and often deeper than what first appears. I tried to gently unfold the emotions resting beneath each word; feelings and subtleties that perhaps had long been there, yet quietly escaped our notice.

So that perhaps, one day, when we meet these words again in the Qur’an, we may no longer stop at their translations alone. Instead, we linger a little longer, reflecting on the meanings woven within them. And somewhere in that quiet reflection, before we fully understand why, tears may begin to gather and fall, softly and without invitation.
