Cold Vengeance

A bonding trip for Pendergast and his brother‐in‐law, Judson Esterhazy, turns violent. Before abandoning a mortallywounded Pendergast, Esterhazy announces his sister, Pendergast's long‐dead wife Helen, lives.

Pendergast escapes only to miss Esterhazy. But retribution is no longer his quarry; his real goal is his wife. Pendergast begins by exhuming her grave. After DNA matches the remains to Helen, Pendergast digs further into her past, only to discover unexpected information. Helen was born in Brazil and may be related to an infamous Nazi war criminal. Where does this lead? How does Pendergast find the wife he knows is alive?

Though in hiding, Esterhazy can't rest. Pendergast's search for Helen has kicked up unpleasant truths and drawn attention from the worst corners. Those truths did not belong to Esterhazy, but to an organization that will stop at nothing to keep its secrets.
