When Sophie receives a parcel from her best friend, Freya, she expects it to contain the reason why Freya left town so suddenly, without goodbyes and without explanation. Instead, she finds a letter addressed to Win, a girl Freya barely knew – or did she? As more letters arrive for more people on the periphery of Freya’s life, Sophie and Win begin to piece together who Freya was and why she left. Sometimes it’s not about who’s gone, but about who they leave behind…
The story starts on a Friday, when Sophie receives a parcel from her best friend, Freya, who has been gone to Manchester for some time, and who chose to cut everyone out from her previous life. The story is like a game of ‘pass the parcel’ – a small gift for each person that opens the parcel and a name on the parcel inside, with the promise that there will be treasure at the end. Read the book and find out how the each characters interact and build relationships. For sure, you will enjoyed this book.
The plot is well written, and each mini chapter peals a new layer in order to get to the center and unravel the mystery. Not only does this book have multi character chapters, it has a wider variety of character background and gender identity: Asian, Queer, Chronic Illness.
This was an excellent novel with a captivating characters and great plot that reveals the realities about self identity and the difficulties of just being happy with who you are.
