FIREBUGS: Inspector Mislan and the D9 Intelligence Unit

Superintendent of Police Samsiah Hassan thinks of a way to get her team to work better. She sets up a separate Intelligence Unit to gather intel to assist officers in ongoing cases. By getting the maverick Inspector Mislan to head this unit, she also wants to avoid further clashes with a certain high-ranking publicity junkie.     In the space of just a few days, this Intelligence Unit has to deal with three simultaneous cases. One involves a home invasion, in which a wealthy businessman known personally to Samsiah is killed. Another is a targeted hit in a clinic, where a patient is shot point-blank.    But it’s the third case, in which members of Kuala Lumpur’s homeless community are killed by burning, that proves to be the most challenging. Who are these Firebugs who want to “cleanse” the streets of some of the most vulnerable people in the city?

Rozlan Mohd Noor served as a police officer in the Royal Malaysia Police for 11 years as a crime investigator and court prosecutor before joining the private sector. He has published several crime/thriller novels. Six of them feature Inspector Mislan as the main protagonist, with Posthumous Child (2022) being the latest. The Inspector Mislan novels are now published internationally by Arcade CrimeWise, New York, starting with 21 Immortals in 2020 and DUKE in 2021. In 2022, the Inspector Mislan books were optioned as a mini-series by UK-based production company Envision Entertainment.
