Enraged by his defeat, Jamjama schemes to seek his revenge on Kageura… by sending his subordinates to challenge and defeat Kageura in order to take over his body! However, Kageura won’t be that easily defeated! In a shocking twist, Jamjama possesses the body of a willing victim – someone who has always wanted to battle Kageura! The Dark story comes to its dramatic conclusion!
The final volume comes out of nowhere, and it shows with its rushed pace to find Jamjama before he has a chance to recover a body to fight Kageura on equal footing. The art is still superb and the primary cast of characters haven't changed since the previous volume, though they skipped explaining most of the rules to the game with few exceptions. Most of the fights are memorable, and the fact that most, if not every card mentioned exists to buy or pull from booster sets is very exciting. If there was one thing I would have loved from this being the final volume, I would have loved to see character sketches, deck lists of the decks used to recreate, and an actual preview to the next spinoff. I certainly cannot wait for the next spinoff, which is previewed with an unknown female character introducing her series in a dramatic way as Holy Game Chronicles.
All in all, the volume, while I feel was rushed and should have included more content, ended leaving me satisfied from the stakes Kageura went through, the battles, and how Yoshida made each chapter twist into a darker rabbit hole. I certainly wish that Future Card Buddyfight was up on normal shelves with Yu-Gi-Oh and Cardfight!! Vanguard instead of having to buy the Buddyfight series through proxy buyers. This series, both the original and this spinoff, deserves more recognition and to take up some of your shelf space!
