Emberlyn has always dreamt of dancing in the grand ballet theatre of New Kora. As a member of The Marionettes, she glides across the stage each night under perfect lights, but unknown to the audience, each performance is tied to a chilling curse. Their master, Malcolm, uses an invisible web of magic to control every movement. When the curtain falls, the terror doesn’t end—because each dancer is doomed to turn to dust once the curse finally consumes her.

When the troupe is summoned to the glittering city of Parlizia, Emberlyn sees her chance to break free from her entrapment. Along the way, she meets a mysterious boy made of shadows whose secrets could hold the key to the Marionettes’ salvation—or undoing. But defying Malcolm comes with a cost, and Emberlyn must decide whether the price of freedom is too high: her heart, her sisters, or even her own life.
