OPRAH DAILY'S NO. 1 SUMMER PAPERBACK 2024
Mia Parkson's life is turned upside down when her stay-at-home dad, the family's anchor, goes missing. The only witness? Eugene – her younger, nonspeaking teenage brother.
As the Police struggle for leads, and her mother and twin brother struggle to keep things together at home, Mia gains access to key clues about her father's disappearance. Headstrong, hyper analytical, and with secrets of her own, she decides to try and solve the case. But could Mia's impulsive actions be putting her whole family in danger?

Reviews
"Based in part on her experiences as an immigrant who could not speak English, Angie Kim's novel is as much an insightful exploration of family dynamics as it is a smartly written literary thriller. Hope floats, but happiness falls." ―The Times
"Bittersweet, sensitive and moving, this is a compelling exploration of love, neurodiversity and heuristics, within the framework of a literary mystery." ―Guardian
"A brilliant, satisfying, compassionate mystery that is as much about language and storytelling as it is about a missing father. I loved this book." —Gabrielle Zevin
"I read Happiness Falls in a single day. I can't remember a book with more layers – this is a nuanced story about bias, language, ableism, racism, and family dynamics – but above all else this is a story with so many twists and turns I was riveted through the last page." —Jodi Picoult
"A sublime literary mystery that is a mesmerizing update to the missing person story, a layered and innovative exploration of family, love, happiness, and race. A gorgeous read that grips both heart and mind." —Jean Kwok
