IAMM Desktop Calendar 2024 : A Journey Through Islamic Art

Celebrating the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia’s silver anniversary brings back memories of the past 25 years. The museum’s journey started even earlier than the groundbreaking ceremony. It all began as if it was an inspiration leading to bringing the arts of the Islamic world to Malaysia and Southeast Asia. For a quarter of a century, the museum has been committed to collecting, conserving, researching and sharing the rich legacy of empires and sultanates. To mention a few of the selected masterpieces from the museum's exquisite collection, there are the illuminated Qur’an mushafs, such as those from the East Coast of the Malay Peninsula; an Ottoman metal-thread silk textile (Çatma); a large 15th-century ceramic serving dish produced in the royal workshops of Baba Nakkash; the opulent necklace that once belonged to the Nizam of Hyderabad; and the silver-inlaid brass bowl that once adorned the dining table of the Mamluk sultans. As the journey begins, we look forward to share and contribute more to educate, entertain and inspire our community. We shall continue to bring some of the most interesting exhibitions from all around the world to Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
