Kannan
Pasamanickam was born in Muar, Johor. He studied medicine at the University of
Malaya and had his postgraduate training at the University Hospital, Kuala
Lumpur, Victoria Infirmary, Glasgow and the University of Washington in
Seattle, USA. Between 1984 to 1994 Dr Kannan worked as a lecturer in cardiology
and general medicine at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine
University Malaya. In 1990 he was appointed Associate Professor and Consultant
in Cardiology and Internal Medicine. This book is a compilation of the author's
observations and experiences during the various phases of his life. There are
several amusing anecdotes from his growing years, his days in college and
university and his interactions with his family, friends, students and
patients. The reader will gain some insight into the teaching and practise of
Medicine in Malaysia. An important message in the book is for those who face
setbacks in their life, especially medical illnesses, to soldier on by reading
about Dr Kannan's own battle with illness.
