Gritty, quirky and powerful. Pitcher's characters are credible and real. The plot clevely constructed to pull readers into the psyche of a teenager. Written in a series of letters, we learn why Zoe felt the need to write to Stuart, a Texan Death Row inmate, of whom she felt like a kindred spirit. She shares with him - with us - the identity of who died, how she's coping with the loss, her other relationships, her problems at school.
I enjoyed it and I hated it. Zoe's indecisiveness makes her character believable, albeit annoying at times. Overall, I thought it was a good book.
