La uruguaya / The Uruguayan Woman

Lucas Pereyra, a writer recently in his early fourties, travels from Buenos Aires to Montevideo to collect money sent to him from abroad and that he cannot receive in his country due to exchange restrictions. Married and with a child, he is not going through his best moments, but the prospect of spending a day in another country in the company of a young friend is enough to encourage him a little. Once in Uruguay, things do not go as planned, so Lucas will have no choice but to face reality. Narrated with a brilliant first-person voice, La Uruguaya is an intense and fun novel about a marital crisis that also tells us how, at some point in our lives, we must face the promises we make and that we don't keep, the differences between what we are and what we would like to be.
