A collection of seven tales as told by Julida Uju, who is a Mah Meri weaver and dancer from Kampung Sungai Bumbun, Pulau Carey. The tales are filled with entertaining animal characters and are a glimpse into how the Mah Meri perceive their environment. The Mah Meri are coastal people living along the coast of Selangor. With no written language, their folklore is a repository of their wisdom, culture, customs, traditions, and history, handed down from generation to generation.
Gerimis Art Project is a collaborative artistic and archiving collective that co-produces artworks and cultural content with indigenous Malaysian (Orang Asli) artists and artisans. The collective primarily works with Orang Asli who are already leading their own efforts in promoting and preserving their arts, culture, and traditions. Gerimis advocates for the Orang Asli’s customary territories and the return of these lands to their custodianship.
