My Pen-Datang

None of us had the agency of choice.

Like most other species two humans did what they did and had an offspring.

By pure random chance one is born in some tiny space, nook, corner of this Pale Blue Dot.

It could have been anywhere – Bosnia, Cambodia, Gaza, Rwanda, Sri Lanka – places where one may not have survived a decent lifetime to tell a story.

Am eternally grateful my randomly assigned place was Batu Lima Belas, Kuala Lumpur in a beautiful, bountiful land called Malaya.

We are a social species that loves telling stories - real, imagined and a combination thereof.

This journal is a personal perspective on the mainly political events that moulded the Nation-state.

The journey begins in the 1940s with the reluctant retreat of the Colonial regime and ends with us Rakyat after almost seventy years of Merdeka, struggling to actualize the national motto Bersekutu Bertambah Mutu ("Unity is Strength").
