A fun and simplified way to get to know Norse mythology through the retelling from Neil Gaiman.
The stuff of mythology when told in too many words makes the Gods of Asgard sound like mere mortals. Yup, the same feeling one gets when watching the so called Asgardians, Guardians of the Nine Realms, fell like chaff in the wind under the might of Thanos in the movie "The Infinity War". Neil Gaiman takes the reader on a different re-telling of the myths surrounding this super-powered beings, each story with a twist in the end that makes you want to continue reading the next. Some gore and sexual references are unavoidable though the former was necessary to demonstrate the might of the Norse Gods, while the latter revealed that their self-serving desires are sometimes not dissimilar to mortals. A good relaxing uncomplicated read with interesting plots in each chapter until alas They meet Ragnarok, and then the reader wished there was more.
Great substitute of the Prose Edda for my younger brother. Book was wrapped nicely in protective packaging and delivery was fast despite the pandemic.
Norse Mythology
This book is absolutely lovely to read, the retelling of The Norse myths is simple, easy to understand, but still very interesting to go over. I’m glad that Neil wrote this book in a magical sort of way, a way that shows his interest and also a respect for the myths.
