About the Author
Claude Gauvard is a Professor of Medieval History at the University of Paris I Sorbonne, she has published extensively on a variety of subject relating to medieval times. She is considered an authority on this period and was made an Officer of the Arts and Letters (Officier des Arts et des Lettres), one of France's highest distinctions. Photographer Joël Laiter trained as an architect and became an art historian and photographer. His works have been featured in a number of magazines such as Madame Figaro, Elle Décoration, and The World of Interiors.
