A long standing architect and academic, Dato' Ruslan Khalid's memoir is an inspirational read, particularly for ‘late starters' as he himself was. He tells of his struggles, betrayals, lost loves and ultimately, success. He freely shares with us his very personal experiences and lets us in on never-before-told events and stories.
Quest for Architectural Excellence is an engaging and fascinating account of one man's struggles and triumphs, of his journey that has made him a world-renowned and respected architect.
- Frank and engaging memoir of a world-renowned Malaysian architect
- Insights into the little-known profession of architecture
Architect. Academician. Educator. Self-professed modernist. A graduate of the prestigious Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, Dato' Ruslan's view of architecture was honed from years of working in England, Europe, the USA and, for the last 26 years, in Malaysia. He is the founder of Ruslan Khalid Associates.
He was notably the first Malay, if not Malaysian, to be appointed a Senior Lecturer at Portsmouth Polytechnic (now University) in 1974. Back in Malaysia, he was made Associate Professor by UTM in 1980 and Professor by UPM in 1998. He has presented papers in local and international conferences, as well as published in professional journals of international standing.
