The author does a great job of highlighting how capitalism and patriarchy thrives when women and transfeminine people are not happy with themselves, excessively critique others, and compete with others. This book serves as a part of one's process to become familiar with one's own biases and indoctrinated ideology that harms them women yet fuels the white supremacist patriarchal machine. An excellent starting point for many ideas about feminism, radical self care, recognizing and fighting against internalized ideals from the patriarchy, boundary setting, and intersectionality. Also useful as an approachable refresher of these topics, without being overwhelming. Take time for yourself in a capitalist world that over values productivity as opposed to rest and balance, be yourself unapologetically, and that other women are not your competition. No matter what your beliefs are, respect others like you want them to respect you. Recipes for self-love would be a great birthday gift for everyone in your life. Much recommended.
Wonderful book of reminders what sting because they implore you to let go of somethings that you maybe holding onto that's preventing you from truly loving yourself.
This is a wonderful book that reminds us to treat people the way we want to be respected, regardless of our beliefs.
