Rhythm And Verses: Masterpieces Of Persian Calligraphy From The Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

Sharjah Museums Department is delight to welcome Rhythm and Verses - Persian Calligraphy from Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) to the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. The exhibition presents rare single-leaf masterpieces in Naskh, Nasta'liq, Siyah Mashq and Shikasta calligraphed by some of the most famous Persian calligraphers over 400 years. It marks Sharjah's first ever museum collaboration with South East Asia, home to one of the largest Muslim populations in the world. At the same time, the project brings together two sister institutions that have much in common. Since their inception in 1998 and 2008 respectively, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia and the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization have worked relentlessly to safeguard and celebrate Islamic art and civilization, interpreting them for a wide range of local and international audiences.
