Rules And Rulings Of The Bar Council Malaysia

The Bar Council is the regulatory body of all Advocates and Solicitors in Peninsular Malaysia by virtue of the Legal Profession Act 1976. The Rulings contained in this compilation were issued over a period of time, and made pursuant to section 57 of the Legal Profession Act 1976. These Rulings relate to matters of practice, to preserve fundamental principles required in maintaining the dignity of the legal profession, and serve as a guide to Advocates and Solicitors as well as pupils reading in chambers. The Rulings are issued and revised from time to time to take into account or address prevailing circumstances , and usually arise as a result of specific enquiries made by Advocates and Solicitors or members of the public. In these challenging times, a detailed code of conduct is essential to guide legal practitioners in carrying out their daily professional practice.
