The sacroiliac joint (SIJ) is a multiplanar joint located in the dorsal complex of the pelvis. The SIJ is one of the primary articulations that provides the lower extremities stability to enable an erect, stable posture. The SIJ is well endowed with ligaments, owing to the importance of its stability as it is the primary structure for weight transfer of the trunk to the pelvis and lower extremities. Furthermore, the joint is well vascularized and heavily innervated making it a clinically significant structure with respect to primary, autoimmune and traumatic disease processes--
