While poking his tounge at and kicking the scarecrow guarding the dry paddy, Sang Kancil does not notice there is gum on the scarecrow's body and he gets stuck. He tries to escape but cannot. Uncle Tani turns up and puts Kancil in the chicken coop. Uncle Tani's wife then prepares to cook. Kancil becomes sad, but then an idea comes to him when Uncle Tani's dog approaches the chicken coop. Kancil tells the dog that he is being made to marry Uncle Tani's daughter. The dog is only too glad to replace him and opens the chicken coop door, allowing Kancil to flee. Uncle Tani is furious and beats the dog.
