How should a democracy choose its representatives? How does Covid-19 spread? How do computers teach themselves chess, and why is chess easier for them than analyzing a sentence? What should your kids study in school if they really want to learn to think? All of these are questions about geometry. Seriously!

Jordan Ellenberg reveals the mathematics behind some of the most important scientific, political and philosophical conundrums we face. The word 'geometry', from the Greek, means 'measuring the world'. If anything, geometry doesn't just measure the world, it explains it. Shape shows us how.

We would devise wonderful shape trails around the school and local area to really bring this alive for the pupil, student and staff. This allowed you to actuallt recognised the importance shape has in life. It literally is everywhere.

I am so happy to recommend this wonderful book to youas it helps deliver the joy of the way shape is all around us.

Interesting

This is a really interesting book. It's not a read from cover to cover in only a few sittings because you just cant put it down, but we find ourselves wanting to continue. This would make an amazing gift for any maths addicts in your family/friend circle but it's also suitable for those with just an inquisitive mind.

Terrific book, accessible, funny, thought-provoking and informative. Another great popular science themed book, I'd certainly recommend this book to anyone who thinks they would be interested.
