Shaping Maths Teacher's Planning Guide 2A (3E)

Shaping Maths (3rd Edition) is an instructional package written according to the 2013 Ministry of Education Singapore primary mathematics syllabus. A thematic approach is adopted in the lower primary levels to reflect various aspects of pupils’ lives and help provide a concrete framework for the mathematical concepts that pupils learn in class. Pupils’ learning is then reinforced through the use of pictures and icons before they are introduced to the formal symbolic mode of mathematical representation. Essential features such as Teaching Suggestions, Coursebook Practice, Warming Up ideas, answers and worked solutions, optional activities, strategies to develop 21st Century Competencies and Classroom Organisation tips to enable teachers to teach more confidently and make each lesson more enriching for pupils.
• Extension Activities: enable teachers to reinforce pupils' understanding of concepts learnt with a variety of non-routine activities.
