Which is when Taryn's problems really begin.
Because the police suspect Taryn's involvement in the death.
Worse, others have their eyes on Taryn - those in a faraway place who know what Taryn's family have been carefully hiding in their vast library. The Absolute Book.
They want it - and they want Taryn to help find it.
For the lives of those in more than one world depend upon it . . .
The storylines and characters are interesting, but the themes and ideas a bit mess. Quite hard to understand some parts. Need to read it again to fully understand this book
The Absolute Book isn’t exactly action-packed, and it does require some tenacity to get through the baggier sections. Not everyone’s cup of tea perhaps but it’s wild and it’s woolly and I think it’s quite wonderful.
This book was beautiful. I found the characters to be complex and fascinating. The language was fantastic. There were so many allusions that I'm sure I missed at least half of them. So much is hinted at rather than stated outright, which I love. The ending was wonderfully satisfying. This book is definitely one I will reread in the future simply to luxuriate in the gorgeous prose.
The Absolute Book is an amazing story. It features heroic achievements, the whispers dragons, witches and fairy councils, loss, betrayal, forgiveness, friendship and homecoming.
There are plentiful mysterious oblique descriptions and at times completely vague concepts .The Absolute Book is a bewitching epic fantasy about a revenge killing, a mysterious scroll box that has survived centuries of fires, the book that changed everything and the power of stories and storytelling to make gods and heroes out of mere mortals.
