The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
During a six-mile hike on the Maine-New Hampshire branch of the Appalachian Trail, nine-year-old Trisha McFarland quickly tires of the constant bickering between her older brother and her recently divorced mother. But when she wanders off by herself, she becomes lost in a wilderness maze full of peril and terror. As night falls, Trisha has only her ingenuity as a defense against the elements, and only her courage and faith to withstand her mounting fears. For solace she tunes her headphones to broadcasts of Boston Red Sox baseball games and follows the gritty performances of her hero, relief pitcher Tom Gordon. And when the reception begins to fade, Trisha imagines that Tom Gordon is with her—the protector from an enemy who may or may not be imagined…one who is watching her, waiting for her in the dense, dark woods…
No. of Pages,
This book was really interesting, I didn't know what to expect going in but I quite liked the story.
The Story is simple but it still full of suspend and mysteries.
Great book, very nice edition
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is best described as a psychological thriller, although it is presented from the perspective of a 9-year-old girl, which is rare. Our young heroine becomes severely lost in a wilderness, where she begins to observe strange indicators that might or could not be hallucinations. When King is involved, though, nothing is as simple as a walk in the woods, because something powerful is pursuing her. When it comes to writing about a single character, King is typically at his best, and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon lifts the bar even higher. Keep your eyes on the trail.
The more moderate the setting, the more brilliant a author needs to be to create it suspenseful and Ruler does this by portraying a frightened, little young lady within the wild, battling to outlive with cleverness and tirelessness. How the marvelous portrayal of the persistent but superb nature, one appears to be interior whereas perusing, switches with the contemplations of the young lady and how she propels herself to remain idealistic and move on is energizing at any minute.
