Vividly depicting the causes, effects, aftermath and long-term consequences of financial meltdown, Galbraith also describes the people and the corporations who were affected by the catastrophe. With its depiction of the 'gold-rush fantasy' ingrained in America's psychology, The Great Crash 1929 remains a penetrating study of human greed and folly.
What a cool funny informative book. This book was written back in the 1950's and, while it's been revised over the years, this info is totally relevant and the they way the author has written this is quirky, funny, and not dry at all.
This book is a well documented historical accounting of what took place leading up to and during the crash. It's not just a history book, but a lesson in life.
The book is well written with insights on what the american people thoughts were. It highlights how american invested in the stock market due to bankers selling them the products and how we assumed the bankers knew exactly how the market worked. Which in truth bankers know as little as the market as we do.
