The Gut Microbiome

This book discusses how the microbiome is affected by nutrients and how dietary modifications can alter the microbiome with associated effects on health. The book is divided into three parts based upon the National Institutes of Health guidance for conducting translational research. Part one details laboratory-scale analysis of gut microbiome samples and their functions. Part two explains translational research models including pre-clinical trials, animal studies, proof of concept safety, and efficacy. Part three focuses on larger-scale clinical trials that attempt to demonstrate the effectiveness of therapeutic treatments in larger populations--
