The Lotus Eaters (James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction 2010)

In the middle of a war devastating the country she loves, Helen Adams, a photojournalist, rushes through a ruined city to catch a plane out. With her is her lover, Linh. He is caught between the woman he can;t bear to be parted from and hi homeland, Vietnam.

Years before, at the start of the war, another lover was tested on the same ground. Sam Darrow - driven, cynical, larger than-life photographer - was Helen's greatest passion and fiercest competitor, Linh his assistant. Powered by their adrenaline and outrage, they become part of the war as well as its chronicles, launching themselves into more an more dangerous situations.
