The Status Game: On Human Life and How to Play it

Argues that the struggle for social status is basic to human psychology and to becoming and succeeding at being a member of a group, that inequality is inevitable, and that both the effort to achieve higher rank and the reaction to being humiliated can lead to violence and other behavior problems.
