These characters were so extremely loveable! I felt an immediate connection to all of them and was fully invested in their lives and situation. This novel really captured my interest and has me eager to pick up more historical fiction novels focused on the Civil War era.

This is a fascinating and moving story with charming characters and a well-written plot about responsibility, loyalty, family and friend connections, and love.

The writer explores the complexities and heartbreak that women experienced as their men took up arms to preserve the nation.
