Tong's Portfolio: Investing Can Be Fun and Profitable

We have collated, for the first time, a selection of articles written under the weekly “Tong’s Portfolio” column in The Edge since 2014. This book offers a unique perspective on investing, based on our real-life experiences as analysts, investors and entrepreneur. Whilst it is a fairly comprehensive volume of analytics and tools – practical and useful reference materials for students of investments – it is not your regular investing textbook. In this book, we share our views on a wide range of topics, highlight peculiarities and raise many questions to ponder. Getting an education and teaching is one of life’s luxuries. We want to help the public invest better.

Tong’s Portfolio profiles two real investment portfolios, Malaysian and Global, both of which have outperformed the relevant market benchmark indices. The last 7 years, and counting, has been a process of self-education and discipline, at times challenging – and most certainly fun. Intellectual pursuit is our motivation and the bigger the challenge, the more worthwhile it becomes. We wish to share this journey with you and hope you have as much fun as we have.
