The impossible has happened. The Lord Ruler is dead has been vanquished. But so too is Kelsier the man who masterminded the triumph. The awesome task of rebuilding the world has been left to his protege Vin; a one-time street urchin, now the most powerful Mistborn in the land. Worryingly for her Vin has become the focus of a new religion, a development that leaves her intensely uneasy. More worryingly still the mists have become unpredictable since the Lord Ruler died and a strage vaprous entity is stalking Vin. As the siege of Luthadel intensifies the ancient legend of the Well of Ascension offers the only glimmer of hope. But no-one knows where it is or what it can do ...

Brandon Sanderson is a masterful storyteller!

What a journey this book took me. As the first book, this one is another astounding work. The way the author injected new complex characters and developed the old ones made this book like no other (I hope OreSeur/TenSoo will be back in the third book). Uniquely authentic, the world, the battles, the love story, the plot twists, the tensions, they were all in the book. Cleverly weaved layers of stories and gripping plot, made it remarkably incomparable with other books in the similar genre I have read (of course I have not read that many). Some of the most exceptional traits I found is, how there were no easy wins even though coming from the main protagonist. They were not portrayed as typical flawless heroes who made little to nothing mistakes. They made mistakes, misjudged here and there, just like how humans really are.

Yes, I cried while reading the book. It had been a very intense, emotionally ride for me. I could feel all the cuts, the pains, the frustration, the defeated feelings, etc. The ending was a bit cliffhanger but there is still the third book. And thinking that I’m on the last one in this trilogy, enough making me depressed because I don’t want this to end.

I’ve made a playlist to go along while I was reading the book. The right music intensifies the vibe which made me feel like I was in the story.

Worthy sequel

The Well of Ascension carries on where book one leaves off and I can assure you it doesn't disappoint! The characters have developed further; Vin and Eland have grown into their roles, albeit somewhat reluctantly. There are some great battle scenes and the final twist was unexpected and satisfying. Highly recommended for all lovers of Fantasy.

Great book

THE WELL OF ASCENSION was riveting. With this sequel taking place a year after the ending of MISTBORN, it's an understatement to say that these characters have already gone through a lot by the time the story line picks up with them again at the beginning of THE WELL OF ASCENSION. The defeat of the Lord Ruler has changed everyone and everything. People's hearts have been lifted and smashed all at the same time. Kelsier's mission is still playing out according to plan, but that also doesn't mean that everything is peaches and cream. Oh, no. Vin and Elend quickly learn that there are more dangers lurking around the corner and with both of these main characters in the spotlight, the stakes are MUCH higher (which obviously caused me even MORE heart palpitations after everything that happened in MISTBORN).
