In a small town in the Deep South, Flora Dane is part of a task force committed to hunting down every last trace of notorious serial kidnapper Jacob Ness. As his last victim, imprisoned by Ness in a small box for over a year, she knew him better than most. Even after his death, his evil still lingers.
But this is the kind of town that doesn't take kindly to strangers asking questions.
The kind of town where dark secrets lurk just beneath the surface.
The kind of town she might not leave alive.
This book was a real page-turner. There was a lot of tension and suspense plot throughout the story.
When You See Me is an outstanding crime detective story that affirms Lisa Gardner as one of the best thriller writers of today. It has so many attributes from location, atmosphere and great characters to an intricate shocking plot that is compelling and keeps you guessing to the end.
It has been a long time since I read Lisa Gardner and I worried about reading her new book without some background to her previous novels in the series. I have to say, in no way did I feel I had missed some history or background to make this story work. This is a unique novel that can be treated as a standalone.
