Kell is one of the last magicians with the ability to travel between parallel universes, linked by the magical city of London. It has been four months since a mysterious obsidian stone fell into his possession and he met Delilah Bard. Four months since the Dane twins of White London fell, and the stone was cast with Holland's dying body back into Black London. Now Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila. And as Red London prepares for the Element Games-an international competition of magic-a certain pirate ship draws closer. But another London is coming back to life. The balance of magic is perilous, and for one city to flourish, another must fall...
fantasy, magic, a bold and strong female protagonist, a soft—also a stubborn male protagonist, a very handsome privateer in second book (like Nikolai Lantsov *screaming*), an antagonist who deserves the whole world and i will die protecting him (i refuse to hear any criticism about this sad boy >:( ) this series should be hyped more in booktok/ any platform! this book is written with a simple vocabulary and make me understand every sentence (as english is not my preferred language). conclusion, i love kell and lila and holland :* and i know u will too :)
A Gathering Of Shadows (A Darker Shade Of Magic)
This book picked up 4 months after the ending of the first book. The story to me was mainly about Lila. She was amazing. Her deception, cunning and ambition, and no regrets attitude makes for a fascinating character. This book had such an interesting ending that I hope to read the next book soon.
This is the second book in the Shades of Magic series. The book is about the four different Londons in four different worlds; really beautiful and really creepy. Aside from the well-thought out story line, I was pleased from the incredible character development from Lila, Kell and Rhy. Lila is as bold as ever, Kell as rash, and Rhy as flirtatious but they all have such complex personalities. And the ending was so explosive and brilliant.
