The Asian continent has the world's highest mountains, hottest deserts and oldest rainforests. And it is the perfect starting point for an exploration of the incredible diversity of wildlife that the world is now in danger of losing due to climate change, population pressures, deforestation and other factors.

Take an unforgettable journey to 27 wildlife sanctuaries spread across 14 Asian countries. Here is just a brief taste of what awaits you in these pages:
  • Kanha Tiger Reserve in central India, one of the country's best managed parks and a favourite site to observe the Bengal Tiger
  • Borneo's Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary, home to some of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Asia, including rich assemblages of large mammals and lowland forest birds
  • A visit to the jungle-covered islands of the Raja Ampat Archipelago in eastern Indonesia, one of the world's top birdwatching spots, also some of the world's best diving spots
  • Shiretoko National Park in Hokkaido, Japan, the best sanctuary in Asia to see Brown Bears, with brief and mild summers offering opportunities for whale watching and excellent bird-watching throughout the year

Asia's Greatest Wildlife Sanctuaries

This is a great amazing book.
1) A comprehensive guide to the national parks/ reserves for would-be visitors. 2) The images are fascinating. In most images, seemingly the animals posed for the photographer. Great skill and patience in capturing them:
a) The trees on Pg 150 -151 look like oil painting b) The Ruddy Shelduck on Pg 164 looks like an acrobatic display c) The Sambar and Starling on Pg 209 appear to have posed for a picture. 3) Many surprises and eye-openers: DMZ in Korea is an "accidental sanctuary for biodiversity" (Pg60), China has so many and huge nature parks (Pg 11 - 43), Indonesia (though an archipelago) has so many nature reserves (Pg 80 - 127), and The Fishing Cat (Pg 245).
Wow! This book is breathtaking. From this book, it is seen that conservation of wildlife is good for the economy; it can generate income as well.

Asia's Greatest Wildlife Sanctuaries

I am no wild life conservation or nature expert. But this photography book on Asia’s greatest wild life sanctuaries by Bjorn and Fanny has widened my horizon to its incredible unseen wonders that I am not fully aware of.

This book is easy reading and enjoyable with its high quality captivating photos. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to enrich his or her knowledge about Asia’s spectacular wild life sanctuaries. Hopefully, this would also generate awareness to protect the remaining habitat from further encroachment

Lastly, this enlightening book would make an ideal personal gift to friends too.
